Who Am I?

Hey there! Welcome to my blog, pleased to meet you! Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Anne. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on January 31st, 2017, and I was diagnosed with celiac on July 31, 2019. I am creative, outgoing, a master procrastinator, an optimist, and obsessed with Harry Potter. Additionally, I have been a Boston Pizza Youth Ambassador for JDRF since November 2019. I thoroughly enjoy public speaking, and I speak at corporate events to raise money for JDRF through my fundraising campaign Live Now. I hope that, through reading this blog, you pick up some useful tips about life with type 1 and celiac, and know that you are not alone.

I'm taking Canadian Geography as a course this semester, and as well as the names and locations of thirty major rivers, water bodies, and islands, and the names of all the provinces and territories, another thing we're learning about is the concepts of geographic thinking. This week we are focusing on interrelationships (how one thing can have an effect on another thing basically). Things like how the movements of tectonic plates cause earthquakes and tsunamis and other natural disasters that cause destruction. How things are connected and how everything has an affect. Insulin Pump Infusion Sites!

Good afternoon, Type 1 Warriors! This week's post is about different Omnipod infusion sites and the pros and cons of each one. If you're thinking, what the heck is an Omnipod? , then let me explain.  Omnipod is an insulin pump company. There are other companies as well, like Medtronic. They produce and sell insulin pumps and PDMs. Do the words insulin pump and PDM sound like gibberish to you? Faces of Type 1

November 2018, my family and I went to the Friends For Life Diabetes Conference in Niagara Falls, Canada. It was quite an interesting weekend, a lot of which I spent inside the teen program.  During my time in the teen program, we participated in a number of activities. We played games, listened to guest speakers, and talked to university students with Type 1. Out of the two or three speakers who came to talk to us, I remember only being truly engaged in what one of them had to say. I don't remember her name, but I do remember what she talked about. Rather, I remember her being the only speaker who interested me. She asked her audience questions, and allowed us to answer them fully and share our experiences. When she came to the end of her presentation, she gave us an activity to do. She called it "faces of type 1." The activity worked like this: everyone got a piece of paper and pencil.
